Milford Sound
Described by Rudyard Kipling as the "Eighth Wonder of the World," Milford Sound was carved by ancient glaciers during the Ice Ages. Sheer vertical rock walls soar more than 1,200 metres straight out of ink-dark waters, flanked by the majestic Mitre Peak (Rahotu). In both sunshine and rainfall, hundreds of temporary waterfalls cascade from misty heights into the emerald fiord.
